Happy Momday (Filled with Emagination)!
Remember when life was simple and the only thing you took seriously was your ice-cream choice? Or which cartoon to watch? You didn’t care if your socks matched or if ketchup got on your white shirt. You had fun with your imaginary friends…and your imagination.
Our sweet Em has such a busy little mind. There are pink dinosaurs on the side of the road. There are nice dragons inside the house. There are mean monsters up in the trees. We cover up at nap time to hide from them all and every so often, one will even get blamed for mishaps.
In this busy world, it’s refreshing to pause and look at things through her eyes. Grass in her sandals are crumbs. Grandpa has no hair because she can’t pull it. Kip is not indoors because he is in the car (on the radio).
Since around two, Emerson has loved Baby Shark. She started (and has continued) to associate not only the characters with our family, but also the colors. In her mind, she is yellow Em Shark. When this fondness began, if you would point to Baby Shark and ask her who it is, she would exclaim, “Em!” Dresses are prettier, macaroni and cheese tastes yummier, and potty-training wasn’t too difficult all because they are Em yellow.
It is so fun to watch her excitement when she brings me a “Mamaw” orange flower or when she sees Grandpa Shark in her book and yells, “There’s you, Bapa!” She will share anything pink with her mom, color things blue for her dad and pick out purple gummies for Aunt Syd Shark. We have a special delivery due in August and a baby brother will be joining the family…Emerson has decided that Elliot Shark will be red :).
I hope you are having a bright Momday and may you slow down to live life in color!
