Happy Momday & Birthday, America!
Who knew that when the initial battles of the Revolutionary War broke out in April 1775, the Declaration of Independence would be signed a year later? Initially, few colonists desired complete independence from Great Britain but by the following year, more were in favor. On June 7, 1776, the Continental Congress met in Philadelphia and a motion was introduced calling for the colonies’ independence. A five-man committee was appointed to draft a formal statement justifying the break with Great Britain and on July 2, this was voted in favor of. Then on July 4, the Continental Congress formally adopted the Declaration of Independence, which was largely written by Thomas Jefferson. Let freedom ring.
Sadly, a recent poll showed patriotism is at an all-time low. This troubles me because I unapologetically love our country and I wish every American had pride in their heart. There is beauty across our great land, whether it be in the landscape or the diversity of the people.
We are free. We are strong. Let's learn to agree to disagree and support our country even when it's going through rough or difficult times, especially when people seem to feel so divided.
America is imperfectly perfect. ❤️🤍💙
Happy birthday, America! I hope everyone has a great Momday celebrating with family and friends.

And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'll gladly stand up next to you
And defend Her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt
I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.
